A beautiful Autumn afternoon in the Elk Mountains and Capitol Peak stands about hill full of golden aspen trees. Capitol Creek Canyon overflows with glowing golden aspens. This was a pleasant surprise, my drive through Aspen itself and the Roaring Fork Valley was quite a disappointment. It took the hunting and seeking to find the gems that made Aspen famous. The mountains above the valley is full of eye candy. When I crested this horrible road, the landscape blew me away. Burning exploration gas can reveal hidden gems.
Capitol Peak as one of the most infamous fourteen-thousand footers of the 57 in the state in the state at the head of the creek that bears its name in the Elk Mountain range west of Aspen. It is located in the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness of the White River National Forest.
