Persistence in Jackson Hole. It took me decades to get a photo here that I had dreamed of but it wasn’t my fault. In 1986 I saw a profile and multiple page spread in Outdoor Photographer Magazine about Jackson Hole photography Fredric Joy, the spread was awesome and I realized I had to visit the Grand Tetons AWAP, then I did. The break away image was here of this meadow and the Golden Aspens crowned by the jagged peaks of the Grand Tetons but shortly after the image was made by Fred this forest burned.
Disappointed I couldn’t get a similar image myself I moved to the Yellowstone Region anyway in 1987, it took 35 autumns before this aspen grove was large enough to make the golden impact I had been hoping for. Oh, it still doesn’t measure up to Fred’s image but it is a start, the trees will still become fuller and I will have additional chances to give it a go.
This is a stitched panorama and can make a good print 6-foot by 2-foot
