Pinnacle Buttes the formation is loosely referred to as "the pinnacles". are a spectacular sight to see along the Togwotee Trail which reveals magnificent mountain vistas, exceptional opportunities for wildlife viewing and a taste of the Old West in the quaint town of Dubois. One of Wyoming’s amazing Scenic Byways it is in the Absaroka Range west of Dubois Wyoming. The alpine tundra of the tilting summit plateau of the main butte is guarded by cliffs on all four sides, with the SE side of the main summit being the most broken. The first time I saw them was coming around this corner and it took my breath away. Later it became as location I would take photo tours to when the Grand Tetons were clouded in. Dubois kept all the clients happy until the mountains of their destination cleared.
